DESIGN ENGINEER

Location: Charleston, SC

Job Description:  Involved with the design, development and installation of electronic and physical security systems and command and control projects.   Responsible for working with clients to plan, manage, design and supervise the installation of these projects. Will coordinate with other staff engineers as needed to design, integrate and install Electronic Access Control, EOC/ROC, C4I, communications, Mass Notification,  and Intrusion Detection systems.  Responsible for development of baseline engineering documentation (SEP, PMP, requirements, etc.), Installation Design Plans, Bills of Material, and costing the associated installation efforts.  Travel and on-site engineering support for installation efforts may be required.  Will be involved with some or all of the following general job activities:

Education:  A bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required, Electrical Engineering preferred.  Four years experience with similar tasks required; six years desired.  Experience with electronic physical security systems a plus. 

 

Required skills:  Must understand the system engineering process and the preparation of associated design and baseline engineering documentation.  Must be able to use MS Project and be able to schedule major tasks.  Must be fully able to work with various types of engineering drawings, including block diagrams, wiring diagrams, power flow diagrams and various types of structural plans.  Familiarity with AutoCAD required.  Must be able to write clearly and concisely to produce a variety of engineering planning documentation and reports.   Must be able to communicate well with persons at all levels of the engineering process, from technicians to senior customer staff.  SECRET security clearance is required.
